WHAT IS TANTRA?

As any sources in sacred teaching, nothing can be confirmed but Tantra is supposed to be born in Nepal, vibrant energetic place worths to visit.

The Tantra practice is a combination of 5 yogas practices :
– Hatha Yoga : the movement
– Ashtanga Yoga : the stillness
– Pranayamas : the breath
– Mantras : the conscious
– Kundalini : the energy
Tantra is wrongly called “sex yoga” by the Westerns. It is indeed in relation to sex but not the act of sex. Tantra aims at rebalancing the feminine and masculine energy withhold in our body. It is there, and screaming to be awakened. We, men, need a strong and balanced feminine energy, slowly erasing the violence inherent to our over-rated masculinity. It won’t leave us less a man. It will confort us in our masculinity, give us reassurance by accepting what’s already in there.

The feminine energy is the key to access your life purpose.

On the other hand, some of us lack of masculine energy, creating all different kinds of physical or emotional disorders. Yoga, and especially Tantra in its relation to the sexual activation work, will help you find who you are, deep inside to open your heart to what’s ahead of you.
Tantra combines 5 different yoga practices which leads to work on the fives elements contained in the body :
– Earth, in the root,
– Water, in the pelvis,
– Fire, in the belly,
– Air, in the chest
– Space (ether) in the throat.

Harmonizing the four first elements will give us access to the fifth one and consequently to the highest spheres of the consciousness.
Malasana connects us to Muladhara

The Earth element resides in our root chakra, Muladhara. Visualizing the color red helps connecting to it.

Our root chakra connects us to our rectal, perinuem and genitals area. Moving the consciousness down to our intimate anatomy is not an easy part as a man.

Have you ever looked at it in the mirror ? It might be a good start for the work we’ll do together. Get more familiar with your anatomy to fully embrace what you are.

Uttanasana

The water element is being hold inside our pelvic area : The hips, the genitals, the bladder and prostate, but mainly in our sacrum, siege of our second chakra :  Swadhisthan. Its color is orange.

Women are deeply connected to their pelvis due to their organic cycles and potential motherhood. Women are in the Yin.

Men are in the Yang, located in the belly. Men are either over-focused on abs work and strength or, on the contrary, simply just letting it go.

This is our natural element: “Warm body, dominant personality, strong, confident,  in power and in action” is what would define a man grounded in his fire element.

Too much fire, and we become tyrannical and uncontrollable. Anger, frustration, jealousy, competition and violence then dominate our life.

Not enough fire, and we become low in energy, unable to make decision and to move forward, stagnant, over-weight,  lazy and depressed.

Balance is key!

Uddiyana Bandha

The last of of the main four elements, air is located in our chest, connected to the breath our heart and lungs.

Pranayamas (breathing exercices) are made to move the energy up towards our chest and throat. Pranayamas are executed when the Hatha Yoga is finished i.e. when the physical Yoga has allowed all the energy points to activate and release.

Visualize it as a door to access the brain in a deeper manner. Lots of spiritual practices use the breath to access the sub-levels of consciousness, just like you would during an hypnosis session.

Yoga and especially Tantra in its deep energetic work will place us exactly where our energy should be.

Not all men are naturally firy and it would be a mistake to be searching for something we are not.  We are all different and while some of us need a deep Fire energy, others will feel more confortable in a robust Earth grounded energy.

The path to Tantra – “Liberation of the mind” – will guide us towards our own natural power by letting go the old ideas of what a man should be.
